Frequently asked questions

How is your practice different?

While emotional support is a critical and necessary component of therapy, clients often complain of lack of real change and guidance from previous therapy attempts and share it was mainly a space for them to talk. Yes, you want support. You are also here because you want change- real change in your present life.

Our practice specializes in offering the whole package: support, warmth and compassion embedded with strategies, recommendations and accountability to create the change you desire in life.

How do I know if I Should start therapy?

If you find it hard to access consistent joy and meaning or if you experience unwanted feelings such as sadness and anxiety or lack of fulfillment in relationships, it is the right time to start therapy. Why continue to repeat the same patterns in your life?  Therapy can help you make the sustainable changes you hope for to greatly improve the quality of your life. While there are many reasons people start therapy, the main themes involve a desire for support and change in one’s life. If this sounds like you, give therapy a try.

What is the commitment?

There is no commitment to ongoing sessions in therapy. You can simply give it a try with an initial session and decide from there. You are free to leave therapy at any time you desire. This can help you feel comfortable knowing you can just give therapy a try and see if its helpful.

How quickly will I feel better?

Typically clients report feeling relief by the end of their first session. Having a neutral and supportive space where you can share what you’ve been going through, feel truly listened to, and begin setting up a road map of desired changes can bring much hope and encouragement. Within a couple of sessions, we have typically determined what changes you are seeking and have started implementing strategies to make desired movement.

What are your hours?

Sandra De Silva, Ph.D. offers daytime appointments on weekdays. Sabrina Naqvi, AMFT offers daytime appointments on weekdays and has some evening and weekend availability.

Do you accept insurance?

We are out of network providers which means clients pay us directly at the time of service. We are happy to provide superbills with the necessary codes that enable you to receive out of network reimbursement from your insurance company. To know what your insurance company covers, contact your insurance company and inquire about outpatient mental health/ psychotherapy benefits with an out of network provider. You will also want to make sure they cover sessions with either a psychologist (Dr. Sandra De Silva) or an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (Sabina Naqvi, M.A., AMFT). They can inform you of the percentage of the fee that you will be reimbursed. You may also want to ask if there is an annual session limit, whether your deductible has been met and how this impacts what is covered, and the steps for submitting superbills.

What is your cancellation policy?

We request at least 24 hours advance notice of session cancellations. Please note that insurance companies often do not cover missed sessions.
